We congratulate our partner Dr. Barbara Schlomann, who has been appointed by the German government to the new five-member Expert Council on Climate Issues.

The Council will support the Federal Government in applying the Federal Climate Protection Act. The tasks of the Expert Council are defined in the Federal Climate Protection Act. Among other things, the Council annually reviews the estimate of greenhouse gas emissions submitted by the Federal Environment Agency and the underlying assumptions. It also takes a position if the Federal Government changes the permissible annual emission quantities in the Federal Climate Protection Act, updates the climate protection plan and decides on further climate protection programs.

Dr. Barbara Schlomann is a renowned energy expert and heads the Energy Policy Department at the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI.
