Energy-efficient lighting

Client

Melete Stiftung

Duration September 2018 – December 2018

Project goals and results

The aim of the study is to examine the economic potential for the use of energy-efficient lighting systems in companies and to identify barriers to greater diffusion. The following work steps are planned.
AP1 – Analysis:
  • Quantification of savings through efficient lighting technology in companies. For the analyses, data available from energy audits and the monitoring of implemented measures from the survey of the Learning Energy Efficiency Networks at IREES will be evaluated. Additionally, further literature will be consulted for the potential analysis
  • With regard to the obstacle analysis, the current legal and funding framework for efficient lighting technology will be examined and interviews with stakeholders will be conducted. In addition, it is planned to include the resulting questions in an ongoing company survey on the implementation of energy efficiency measures
  • In addition to considering current lighting technologies, the study also researches future technologies that could become more relevant for a higher diffusion of efficient lighting systems (e.g. smart lighting)
AP2 – Recommendations for action:
Based on the results, policy recommendations are derived with which a fast diffusion of efficient lighting technology can be achieved
WP3 – Exploitation of the study:
The results of the study will be published in a working paper, which will be communicated to the expert public via the press mailing lists of IREES and Fraunhofer ISI. A presentation of the findings at a conference is also planned.
