ALLICE Congress 2025: Decarbonization of Industry

Industry meets decarbonization, and our colleague Michelle Antretter was right in the thick of things at the Alliance ALLICE’s ALLICE Congress 2025 in Paris.🗼
Under the motto “Decarbonizing industry: ramping up for 2030 and beyond!”, the event focused on the growing importance of energy efficiency and decarbonization for industry.

The congress brought together industrial companies, technology providers, and policymakers from across Europe to discuss strategies and measures for a climate-neutral industry.
Below, we would like to highlight some key insights from the discussions and presentations:

⚙️ Decarbonization is becoming a reality in industry
It is becoming apparent that decarbonization technologies are making the transition from the model stage to industrial practice: pilot plants for the electrification of high-temperature processes, large-scale heat recovery, initial CO2 capture and utilization (CCU/S) projects, and the integration of hydrogen mark this transition.

🤝Industry in alliance: Networks for transformation
A central theme in the discussions was the important role of cross-sector alliances in joint infrastructure projects or (supra)regional transformation clusters.

🇫🇷📑 Insights into French governance of industrial decarbonization
France is pursuing regulatory emission pathways until 2050 and supplementing them with programs such as France 2030, which promote investment in priority areas such as the electrification of industrial processes, hydrogen, and CCU/S.
