In 2026, we will be celebrating an anniversary: for 20 years, the IREES – Institute for Resource Efficiency and Energy Strategies has been working on the big questions of the energy transition in a practical, scientifically sound manner, always in dialogue with politics, administration, business, and civil society – both nationally and internationally. 🤝

For us, 20 years is not just an anniversary, but an opportunity to appreciate what we have achieved together and to continue with curiosity and a desire to shape the future. Behind 20 years of IREES are not only projects and studies, but people, ideas, discussions, shared learning, and many paths we have walked together.

This is exactly what we would like to share with you here this year: projects with local authorities, politics, and practice; key issues relating to the energy transition, resource efficiency, and transformation; and experiences from 20 years of collaboration that inform and advance our work today.

This will be complemented by the voices of people who have accompanied IREES through very different phases and enriched it with their experiences and perspectives.
