KomDat: The Heating Transition in Everyday Home Life—A Conversation with Tenants
Smart Thermostats Put to the Test: What Do Tenants Say?
This week, as part of the KomDat project, we explored this question in a residential building owned by HOWOGE in Berlin. Last fall, smart thermostats were installed in all of the apartments there. After the first winter, we wanted to hear from the residents about their experiences with the smart thermostats—from installation and ease of use to any changes in their heating habits.
This kind of feedback is essential if technical solutions for heating are to be not only efficient but also understandable, accepted, and suitable for everyday use.
Many thanks to the residents for their time and openness, and also to the Cooldown project, HOWOGE, the Verbraucherzentrale Berlin e. V., and the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg District Office in Berlin for their excellent cooperation in conducting the survey.
In the KomDat project, IREES contributes a social science perspective and is developing, among other things, a communication concept to improve communication and data exchange between district heating providers, building owners, and Hashtag#tenants.
