EE4ING: NEW RELEASE OF THE IREES ­čîŹ

The newly published study “Evaluation of the direct reduction of iron ore using electrolysis hydrogen” looks at a production process for the manufacture of primary steel that could replace the currently dominant blast furnace route. Further emission reductions to a relevant extent in primary steel production can only be achieved through innovative production processes. The market launch of these innovative processes is thus becoming unavoidable. In the present study a promising process, primary steel production based on natural gas and electrolytically produced hydrogen, was subjected to an extensive analysis.
