Renovation Sprint in Brussels: Jana Deurer Oppen Presents an Ultra-Fast Renovation Plan

Renovation Sprint Goes Europe!

Jana Deurer Oppen as a changemaker at the VoicesofChange event hosted by BPIE in Brussels.

There, she presented the Renovation Sprint—and shared how her own building underwent a comprehensive renovation in just 22 days last year. The project was part of the pilot program and marked the first Renovation Sprint in Baden-Württemberg.

The semi-detached house in Esslingen was energy-efficiently renovated and modernized in just 22 days with close support from the University of Stuttgart. The facade, roof, windows, water supply, interior finishes, photovoltaic system, and heating system were completely renewed—everything was literally “turned upside down.”

The renovation sprint is a concept for the ultra-fast energy-efficient renovation of single-family and two-family homes. It is based on detailed preliminary planning, optimized processes, and intensive communication directly on the construction site.

The IREES team was also able to see for themselves on-site: During a visit to Jana’s home, she explained the Renovation Sprint right at the building, showed the measures that had been implemented, and provided insights into the new heat pump in the basement as well as everything else that had been changed as part of the Renovation Sprint.
