Closing Event: Study on the Transition to Climate-Neutral Heating in Schleswig-Holstein

Schleswig-Holstein is a pioneer in renewable electricity generation. What can the state do to transition its heat supply to renewable energy as well? Öko-Institut and IREES GmbH in Kiel are exploring this question.

🚩 Over the past few months, on behalf of the Schleswig-Holstein Ministry for Energy Transition, Climate Protection, the Environment and Nature (MEKUN), we have been researching the key factors for a successful transition to climate-neutral heating in Schleswig-Holstein.

👥 Through interviews, one-on-one discussions and several workshops, stakeholders from local authorities, the energy sector, skilled trades, the housing sector, property owner associations and consumer protection organisations shared their experiences, highlighting barriers and identifying potential courses of action.

📝 Öko-Institut and IREES GmbH analysed these insights and combined them with findings from existing studies, data analyses and best-practice examples from other regions to develop concrete recommendations for accelerating the transition to climate-neutral heating in Schleswig-Holstein.
Last Friday, we had the opportunity to present our findings to the stakeholders who had accompanied and contributed to this process.

We would like to thank everyone involved for their collaboration and for the many engaging and insightful discussions!
