How long will we remain dependent on imported natural gas, and what will happen to Germany’s natural gas infrastructure afterwards?

Insights from the conference “The Gas Question: Moving Beyond Fossil Fuel Dependence”

1️⃣ Phasing out fossil fuels is a responsibility we have towards the rest of the world and future generations. At the same time, it also presents an opportunity. For example, more than 400,000 people in Germany are already working in the renewable energy sector.
2️⃣ Germany’s extensive gas network is a resource that can continue to be used in a renewable energy system. From hydrogen to biogas, the network offers potential for many aspects of the energy transition.
3️⃣ At the same time, the focus must remain on electrification to avoid the risk of locking ourselves into fossil fuels.

The conference has given us renewed courage and energy to continue working towards Germany’s energy transition! Many thanks to Deutsche Umwelthilfe for organising the conference.
