H2-Companion: Hydrogen from Stuttgart – Information Event at the Port of Stuttgart

What does the production of green hydrogen actually look like in practice? – On 23 June 2026, we attended the information event “Wasserstoff aus Stuttgart”, hosted by Stadtwerke Stuttgart GmbH and Wirtschaftsförderung Region Stuttgart GmbH (WRS).

The expert presentations and the visit to the construction site at the Port of Stuttgart gave a vivid impression of how far the development of hydrogen infrastructure in the region has already progressed.

IREES was represented on site by Sophie Lohmann, PhD and Antonia Kranz. As part of our accompanying research project H2-Companion, we support the Modellregion Grüner Wasserstoff Baden-Württemberg — among other things from a societal perspective. Our focus is on how hydrogen technologies are perceived, and which expectations, information needs and potential roles different target groups associate with the transformation.

The event offered a valuable opportunity to talk with visitors and to capture a range of perspectives on hydrogen.
