Low-energy neighborhoods (LEN) are of high relevance for reaching the climate protection goals. Through innovative, sustainable energy supply and mobility solutions LEN have a crucial impact on reducing the greenhouse gasses. At the same time, they can increase the profitability, the energy efficiency as well as the quality of living and at last the satisfaction of their residents.
The goal of the project is therefore to further develop the processes and instruments to support the planning, decision and implementation processes of LEN respectively energy neutral neighborhoods of the renovation of existing buildings as well as new neighborhood concepts under special consideration of buildings and traffic. The target group of the project are scalable neighborhood types in the residential and/or non-residential construction and university campuses. Objective of the project is the development of a consistent and for the actors easy to use method as well as the further development of existing tools for the stepwise development, implementation and of the goal-oriented efficient operation of LEN.
The project outcomes enable decision makers, city and neighborhood planners, project developers, investors, energy providers and municipal utilities a significant simplified stepwise development of highly efficient neighborhood projects in urban and rural areas.
