The Austrian federal government has set ambitious goals for climate protection: Austria should become climate neutral by 2040.
In the intensive efforts to reduce emissions, the industrial sector in particular – with a share of about 35% of the current total emissions – cannot be ignored. In a participatory process, the transformation processes of this industry towards greenhouse gas neutrality should be taken into account and concepts for action should be developed. IREES was commissioned by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK) to provide scientific support for this process.
