H2 transport route energy and costs
Costs, efficiency, time horizon and environmental impact – at the IREES Brown Bag Lunch, Lennart Bunnenberg showed which transport routes could bring green hydrogen to Germany in the future.
Should hydrogen be transported by pipeline or ship, in the form of hydrogen, ammonia, methane or other derivatives, and should these be converted back into hydrogen at the end? Lennart Bunnenberg’s conclusion: “When looking for a suitable way to transport hydrogen to Germany, the ultimate use of the medium and the energy input must always be considered. Cost as the only criterion is not enough.” Every transport option presents a trade-off between these factors.
At our monthly brown bag lunches, IREES staff present topics for the internal education of our entire team.
