Revolutionizing heating networks for a sustainable future
🎉 Congratulations to our colleague Dr. Eftim Popovski on the successful defense of his dissertation and his doctorate! 🎓
His research on heating networks and their role in the sustainable energy transition provides valuable insights for the future of heat supply.
How can heating networks contribute to a secure and sustainable heat supply? In his PhD, Eftim investigated how renewable heat sources – including geothermal, solar thermal and large-scale heat pumps – can transform heat networks in Europe. By combining spatial analysis, energy system modeling and economic evaluation, his research identifies cost-efficient solutions for a climate-friendly heat supply.
Key findings:
✅ The potential of industrial waste heat and large heat pumps
✅ The economic feasibility of solar heating networks
✅ The importance of municipal heat planning for the transformation
With optimized political framework conditions and the use of spatial energy models, we can make renewable heating networks affordable, flexible and safe – and thus ensure a reliable and sustainable heat supply. 🌍♨️
