How sustainability is incorporated into construction: The GEFION[‘gev, jon] project for assessing the sustainability of buildings has been completed ➡️
For three years, we worked with our project partners WoodenValley gGmbH, Esslingen University of Applied Sciences, andOFFICE, and NETSYNO Software GmbH to tinker, analyze, and discuss—why? Because it is important to consider sustainability as a whole when constructing buildings and to start early in the planning phase.
⚠️ The problem? Currently, sustainability is often only considered late in the process, if at all.
💡 The solution: Collect data as automatically as possible so that decisions can be made quickly, e.g., by linking architectural designs to data on CO2 emissions.
🛠️ The proof of concept: The ReBuild Tiny House, which was developed, built, and measured with continuous data monitoring in the GEFION project.
As LCA experts, we at IREES GmbH contributed our expertise on CO2 emissions and ensured that CO2 was taken into account in the architectural designs in addition to energy consumption. We would like to thank the GEFION project team for their excellent cooperation!
