New GIS web tool for more efficient heat planning now available!
How can you quickly and reliably identify which parts of a municipality are not suitable for heating networks or hydrogen networks – and are therefore eligible for shortened heat planning?
👉 With our newly developed web tool, IREES offers a practical solution for cities and municipalities throughout Germany. The tool enables a suitability check in accordance with Section 14 of the Heat Planning Act – simply by selecting a municipality, visually prepared and freely accessible on our website.
🔍 What the tool offers:
✅ High-resolution maps for every municipality in Germany
✅ Automatic division into areas for normal vs. shortened heat planning
✅ Relevant additional layers: heating network, gas network coverage, heat density, energy-intensive industry, hydrogen core network
🎯 Advantage for local authorities: save resources at an early stage, plan in a targeted manner and meet legal requirements – with just a few clicks. From 2026 or 2028, all municipalities will have to submit heating plans. A well-founded suitability test is the first step.
