Municipal heat supply plan for the city of Zirndorf
Duration September 2023 – June 2024
Background
In the energy transition, the decarbonization of heat supply is currently still a major challenge. The draft for a “Law for heat planning and for the decarbonization of heat networks” implements the obligation for comprehensive municipal heat planning (KWP) planned in the coalition agreement of the current federal government. The central importance of heat planning for the path to a climate-neutral heat supply is also made clear by the connection to the Building Energy Act, the amendment of which, the KWP as a central planning instrument, not only offers orientation for building owners, but also provides the basis for regulatory requirements with regard to possible solutions.
Goals and Results
With the call for tenders for the “Creation of municipal heat planning”, the city of Zirndorf is starting the process of carrying out and implementing heat planning at an early stage, before the nationwide obligation and thus is joining the group of pioneer cities. Municipal heat plans are an essential part of the climate change. The listed options for action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in heat supply form the basis for a greenhouse gas-neutral building stock and a greenhouse gas-neutral heat supply.
