Jan Steinbach is managing director of IREES since November 2017 and head of the business unit Energy Management and System modelling. From 2009 to 2019 hwas a senior researcher and project manager at the Fraunhofer Institute for System and Innovation Research ISI in the department of Energy Policy and Energy Markets. He was guest researcher at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California (USA) from September to December 2012 and lecturer at the Karlshochschule International University from 2015 to 2017. Jan Steinbach studied industrial engineering at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and at Maastricht University (Netherlands) with a focus on energy and environmental technology, international economic policy and finance and accounting.  He received a M.Sc. degree (Diplom) in Business Engineering from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and a doctoral degree in Economics (Dr. rer. pol.).
