2026 Congress on Energy Research in Industry and Commerce
2026 Congress on Energy Research in Industry and Commerce – Two days of inspiration, exchange, and perspectives for the transformation of industry
The 2026 Congress on Energy Research in Industry and Commerce (EFIuG) is now behind us – and our overall assessment is thoroughly positive:
💬 Over 200 participants from research, industry, politics, and project management came together to discuss current developments, challenges, and potential solutions.
➡️ Success stories from energy research impressively demonstrated the breadth and practical relevance of projects within the Industry and Commerce Research Network—ranging from digitalization and the heat transition to innovative production processes.
💬 In-depth discussions at the thematic roundtables provided valuable insights and highlighted concrete perspectives for future research and funding needs.
🤝 Forging new connections and networking were at the forefront—a key building block for successful transformation.
Special thanks go to the EE4InG2 accompanying research organization team—IREES GmbH, ETA-Solutions GmbH, and the Institute for Industrial Furnace Engineering and Thermal Technology at RWTH Aachen University—for their excellent collaboration, as well as to the Jülich Project Management Agency and the BMWE for their support.
Many thanks also to Energieforschung for their support in promoting and raising the profile of the conference.
From our IREES team, Dr. Heike Brugger contributed to the conference’s success by opening and closing the event, while Robert Maertens, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Eberhard Jochem, Ana Clara Bursich, and Johannes Haller provided valuable organizational and content-related support.
We are already looking forward to the next congress in the second half of 2027.
