Dr. Nele Friedrichsen studied industrial engineering with a focus on energy and environmental management at the University of Flensburg. She received her PhD in Economics from Jacobs University Bremen on “Investment, Unbundling, and Vertical Governance in Electric Power Systems”.
After her studies, she worked as a project manager and research assistant first at the Bremen Energy Institute and then at Fraunhofer ISI in the Competence Center Energy Policy and Energy Markets and as a visiting researcher at SPRU at the University of Sussex. Then she worked in regulation management at DB Energie and as an IT consultant for energy management at DB Systel.

Since October 2021, Dr. Nele Friedrichsen has been working as a senior researcher and project manager at IREES in the business area Energypolitcs and -technologies.
